I found some kittens in my garage - what should I do?
They look really young (maybe just a week or two old).
I am not sure if the mother is around or how to help them.
Any advice on what to do next would be appreciated!

Kitten Rescue 101 – A home-based rescue in Fremont, with an adoption fee of $175 (costly (: ).
Kittens are so cute - and if they chose you, maybe it is a sign. Maybe it is time to bring them home!

Young feral kittens may be eligible for socialization and adoption.
If you come across feral kittens in Fremont and are unable to care for them, you can report them to the Tri-City Animal Shelter for assistance.

I googled kitten emergency milk replacer recipy.
Ingredients:
6 tablespoons (90 ml)condensed milk
6 tablespoons (90 ml) water
1/2 cup (120 ml) plain yogurt (not low-fat)

Directions:
1. Blend all ingredients together until smooth and uniform.
2. Warm the mixture to 95–100°F (35–38°C) before feeding.

Aww, finding a 2-week-old kitten in your garage is both heartwarming and a bit of a rescue mission!
Here's a quick guide on how to care for a kitten that young:
#1. Keep the kitten warm
At 2 weeks old, kittens can't regulate their body temperature.
Use a heating pad or a warm water bottle wrapped in a towel, or sime kind of blanket.
#2. Feed kitten formula
They can't eat regular food yet.
Use kitten formula (KMR)—never cow's milk.
Feed with a bottle or syringe every 2–3 hours, including overnight.
Warm the formula slightly (test it on your wrist - it should be just warm, not hot).

Flea Treatment
I have two outdoor cats. Bathing them with Flea & Tick Shampoo for Cats is part of our routine, especially in spring and summer.
My question is: what is the best procedure to prevent fleas in outdoor cats?
#1. Fleas & Tick Shampoo for Cats - using it mostly in spring and summer.
#2. Dawn dish soap - I add just a drop (it can strip natural oils from cats' skin) when I am giving a bath to my cats.
And I am adding a little bit of it to Diatomaceous earth when I sprinkle my yard.
#3. Pet & Home Spray - obvious
#4. FURminator - my cat with long hair just love it! He is waiting for his 10 minutes daily procedure.
It's a great tool for reducing shedding and keeping your cat's fur clean, but fleas are tricky—they hide deep in the fur.
#5. A flea comb – Fine-toothed and more effective at catching fleas and eggs.
#6. Advantage - I apply it once a month

Ohh, even easier. You can simply mix one cup of water with one tablespoon of lemon juice, then dip a flea comb into the solution before combing through your pet's fur.

wikiHow suggests homemade lemon flea spray as a remedy against fleas, safe for pets and around the home:
Ingredients: 1 lemon (sliced) + 2 cups water.
1. Slice the lemons, add the water to the pot with the lemons
2. When the water comes to a boil, reduce the heat to medium and let the lemons simmer in the water for 30 minutes.
3. Let the lemons soak in the water overnight, or for about eight hours.
4. Remove the lemons from the water using a strainer
Note: you can add a bit of apple cider vinegar
Use: Spray onto your pet's coat for a citrusy flea repellent.

Comb your cat with a flea comb. Dip the comb in a bowl of warm water with mild dish soap to drown fleas.

Baking soda + salt:
Mix them and sprinkle over the carpet, mostly in spots where your cat like to nap.
Leave it overnight. The salt and baking soda help dry out and kill fleas and eggs by pulling out the moisture.
Next morning - vacuum it all up good.
This way is cheap, simple, and mostly safe, just don't let your cat lick or eat the powder.
Better to keep them out of the room until you clean it up.

Just a single drop of dawn dish soap in warm water can really help kill fleas.
This trick is especially handy in the early stages of a flea problem.
I am gently rubbing my cat (I avoid the face and ears), leave him to enjoy bath for about 3 minutes, then rinse him well.
I only use this method once in a while. Usually in spring time. I read that it can dry their skin.

I keep rosemary plants near the front and garden doors.
They help repel fleas naturally.
After baths, I rinse my cat with a small amount of boiled rosemary.
Hope that helps!

I use Flea & Tick Shampoo regularly, especially during spring and summer when fleas are most active.
A flea comb is handy to check for fleas or flea dirt and remove any early signs of infestation.
My cats are indoor/outdoor - I need keeping the grass short and reducing flea-prone areas helps minimize exposure.

Litter for cats
Would you recommend the best affordable cat litter? I've tried a few and am looking for a budget-friendly option.
I tried Fresh Step Simply Unscented Clumping Clay Cat Litter (25 lb) from PetSmart for about $18 ($0.72 per lb)
and Dr. Elsey's Clean Tracks Clumping Clay Cat Litter (40 lb) for about $26 with shipping and tax ($0.65 per lb).
At first glance, the second option seemed cheaper.
But the litter consumption was much worse, and cleaning the litter box was terrible.
I prefer to pay a little more for Fresh Step, buy less often, and save time on cleaning.
My older indoor/outdoor cat prefers to pee in a litter box with shredded redwood mulch and use clumping clay litter for poop. One bag of mulch lasts at least three months.
I am buying this mulch at Lowe's Home Improvement in Fremont.

I use a cat litter mat that is easy to clean and works great for a senior cat. Our sweet Margo is 18 and occasionally has an accident.
To tell you the truth, I actually bought a kitchen sink mat to save money. It cost around $11, compared to a Cat Mat for Litter Box, Large 34" x 22", Waterproof Silicone Pad for Floor priced at $23.

I stopped using Dr. Elsey's Cat Litter.
Everyone who walked into my house could tell I have cats because of the tracking on my hardwood floors.
I agree - cheap cat litter can cost you extra effort to keep your house clean.

I like Integrity Clumping Clay Cat Litter. I used to buy 20 lb bags at Bogie’s (Fremont).
The litter forms stronger clumps, which means less waste.
Unfortunately, the only option now is 40 lb. (:
Not very easy to carry the bag.
